Bill Crawford is a proud business owner who has had the privilege of owning and operating his own businesses for over 40 years.
Bill and his wife Debbie currently own and operate Basic Training MedX in Downtown Scottsdale and have for the past 20 years.
Basic Training MedX is a state of the art fitness and strength training center that provides memberships, professional science-based training services and weight loss programs using the finest equipment available anywhere.
The Crawford's dedication to personal service, knowledge and motivational skills help clients attain their fitness goals worldwide.
Bill has been a leader and visionary in fitness since 1977. He has owned and developed fitness and rehab facilities around the world. His expertise and unique ability to connect and change the lives of people from various backgrounds has earned him national recognition.
In 2012, he was inducted into the National Fitness Hall of Fame (NFHOF) for his life's work and contribution to the industry. In addition, he was elected to chair the NFHOF board from 2015-2017. Bill also represented the NFHOF in Washington, DC and worked with two U.S. Surgeon Generals' - Regina Benjamin and Vivek Murthy - along with the American College of Sports Medicine and others on national fitness policies.
Bill Crawford's commitment to Scottsdale goes far beyond the fitness industry. He has invested valuable time and resources in community service.
For more than 20 years, Bill has fought tirelessly to protect Scottsdale's unique brand and quality of life and has successfully advocated for residents, neighborhoods and businesses on critical issues impacting our city.
Bill has many community accomplishments, but one of his most notable achievements was working with downtown residents and businesses to address public safety and compatibility concerns regarding the Entertainment District in Downtown Scottsdale.
Bill's efforts in collaboration with Mayor Jim Lane were successful and led to a safer downtown through the development and implementation of multiple ordinances and innovative public safety solutions.
Bill's civic involvement and volunteerism has extended to numerous organizations over the years. He was the founder and president of the Association to Preserve Downtown Scottsdale's Quality of Life and a co-founder of the Downtown Scottsdale Economic Vitality Coalition with former Scottsdale City Council members Betty Drake and Wayne Ecton.
In addition, Bill has served on several boards and committees, including the U.S. Olympic Committee, Scottsdale Symphony, StarShine Academy, Chambers of Commerce and many other well-known organizations. He has also dedicated his efforts as a volunteer fire fighter and search and rescue team member.
Public Safety Advocate
Bill Crawford was a decorated volunteer with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Posse for over a decade, serving in the elite Qualified Armed Posse. He was also a Posse President and Commander in the McDowell Mountain Mounted Search and Rescue Posse.
Through his efforts on the Posse, Bill developed a passion for public safety and a deep appreciation for the service and sacrifice of our first responders.
Bill understands the positive impacts quality public safety services have on a community and is dedicated to keeping Scottsdale one of the safest cities in the country.
